Saratoga Springs, New York

A mix of culture, past and present, makes Saratoga County one of the most unique and popular counties in upstate New York.  Named one of America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the area features Victorian architecture, an award-winning downtown with tree-lined streets and one-of-a-kind boutiques, exceptional dining, culture, golf, museums, history, and of course, world-class horse racing!  Learn more about Saratoga Springs and Saratoga County by visiting the local Chamber of Commerce’s website.

The Battle of Saratoga, known as "the turning point of the American Revolution” and ranked among the fifteen most decisive battles in world history, took place in Saratoga County. Here in 1777 American forces met, defeated and forced a major British army to surrender.  Today Saratoga National Historical Park is open year-round and is located on the beautiful upper Hudson River.

Saratoga Springs is perhaps best known for its horse racing, which runs from late July through Labor Day.  Visitors can start the day with a trackside breakfast in the morning sun, a behind-the-scenes tour of the backstretch and then spend an exciting afternoon at the oldest and most beautiful Thoroughbred race course in the nation.

Located in the beautiful Saratoga Spa State Park, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center is home to the New York City Ballet for three weeks in July and the Philadelphia Orchestra during the month of August.  SPAC also hosts some of the most popular performers in the country at rock and pop concerts - all this under the spectacular backdrop and scenery of the 2,100 acre Saratoga Spa State Park.  While at the Spa Park, explore the Saratoga Automobile Museum, the National Museum of Dance, the championship Saratoga Spa Golf Course and the Roosevelt Baths and Spa.

Golfing, tennis, mountain biking, road biking, kayaking, hiking, white water rafting and skydiving are just some of the activities that await the outdoor enthusiastic.  Proximity to Saratoga Lake, Sacandaga Lake, the Hudson River and Champlain Canal makes it easy to take advantage of the area’s waterways.

Skidmore College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Union College, Russell Sage College, Siena College and the University at Albany are some of the area’s many institutions of higher learning.
