Missisquoi Bay Bridge Turtle Monitoring

McFarland Johnson is monitoring rare softshell turtles in the vicinity of the Missisquoi Bay Bridge in Swanton, Vermont. This project involves basking observations; radio telemetry, including transmitter attachment and PIT tagging; water quality monitoring; and agency coordination. MJ will provide annual reports, as well as a final evaluation generated over several years of observation. Water quality, weather conditions, and turtle location data is being recorded at two week intervals during the summer and fall, and monthly during the winter. All transmitter hardware will be removed from the turtles upon completion of the study.
